This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Albert Einstein said this, and I agree. My students have different abilities and I like to incorporate the arts into their learning.
I work with a large, culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners.
I work with students with autism, students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and students who may benefit from small group interventions. Close to 90% of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, and about 60% of them are English Language Learners.
My Project
My project, "Empowering Students Through Art", will help all of my students. The sketch pads and 6 deluxe art drawing creativity sets will help our art center come alive. The art center will help expand my students creativity. They will be able to illustrate the poems they have read and deepen their understanding by answering reflective questions regarding them. They will then be able to create their own drawings which will promote literacy through art.
Students will reflect and think critically about the poems they have read, then produce different artistic projects, which they will sketch on their sketchbooks. The most important thing is to help my students understand the poems better by allowing them to create their own representations of what they meant to them.
Please help my students by contributing 36 sketch pads and 6 deluxe art drawing creativity sets to increase their fluency, comprehension, and artistic creativity.
With the help of generous donors, my students will continue to develop a love for learning, along with all the skills necessary to become great writers, readers, and artist.
