This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hungry for knowledge and need to become as familiar as their peers with technology. They need to be able to use e-readers to access books to spark a love of reading! We would use the Kindles to Empower Students through Art.
My students live in a high poverty area in Arizona, a state that doesn't fund education in the way it needs to.
Our school is older and doesn't have the resources of the newer schools in our district. I have watched the students from my school donate food and blankets to needy citizens, or give up birthday money to buy something for someone else at Christmas. They are wonderful citizens who I would like to see get something back.
My Project
The students will use the Kindles to read books. They will then be able to use various apps to create art projects. Using the Kindles will be Empowering Students Through Art. They will be able to create digital collages and artwork to represent their thinking about subjects they have researched and read about on the Kindles.
Your donation could help ignite a reluctant reader who would find it amazing to read an ebook, but who wouldn't normally pick up a paperback book!
Sometimes just changing the delivery method to something like an ebook, or an audiobook (which are also available on the Kindle) can spark an interest for a child! It will also allow the students a digital way to represent their thinking. They will be able to create digital artistic representations of their thinking.
