Empowering Students Through Art German Immersion

My students need more Art supplies to help them learn German language and about Science. Empowering students to learn German through Art can increase proficiency.

My Students

Our students learn Second Grade curriculum in German and speak only German in class. Empowering students to learn German through art is a great way to increase their proficiency. some students have special needs and actually creating increases their capacity to create in language and to understand.

Our students are from a low income background and mixed economic backgrounds and mixed learning levels.

They are very engaged learners and immersed in German Culture and language. Each student is encouraged to ask questions about what they want to learn and create in German and Create to learn math and literature. We make stories and write our ideas about math.

My Project

Students would use these supplies to have a classroom colored pencil set which we don't currently have. Empowering students through art, we would help them learn about literacy and increase their German language ability. They would create fairy tales in German. Students would correct their creations and make a great project they can show their parents. Students would use punched out letters for titles. Students would get paper from the storage shelf and also tell their story using stick puppets that they created.

This classroom is still very new and students are learning book structure and how to speak German at the novice level.

Students are very hands on learners so this will help them retain more language ability. We would love to have a project that the students put a lot of work into creating. They can take their books home and learn through art.
