My Students

A typical day in a Kindergarten class begins with energy and excitement! My students are ready to learn from the moment they enter the class to the moment they leave. Therefore I need many opportunities and materials to provide this for all of them!

I teach 26 enthusiastic kindergarten students.

It is the first classroom experience for many of my students. They are at an age where art, movement, and dramatic play are the most meaningful and exciting times of the day. So many concepts can be reinforced during these times. My students come from many different cultural backgrounds. Some of my students come from low income families who qualify for free or reduced price lunch, some have special needs and have an Individualized Education Plan, and others are second language learners. This diverse group of learners use art as a tool to empower their learning through fine motor development, personal development, and imagination.

My Project

My students are eager learners...they learn more from hands-on experiences than from verbal instruction. They learn best by moving, touching, exploring, and discovering! By funding my project you will put paint brushes, dot painters and center activities in the hands of young learners! You will provide the space needed for each of these experiences. Crafting and art are important mediums of playful learning. Play is very important for children to learn and grow. My students will learn from what is interesting to them and they are capable of understanding, and doing, for their age and abilities. While they are painting or building sight words, their brains are making synapses, or connections of neurons, which will enhance their learning in the future. However, it must be developmentally appropriate to hold their attention and to be beneficial. Each opportunity that you provide will encourage my students to learn!

Art activities and centers create a sense of cooperation and belonging to a group.

In the centers provided by you, the students will learn the art of working together and how to support group members. In a society where social medial and cell phone communication is starting to be the norm, these activities will provide opportunities to communicate through project based learning and communication. Your support is needed since budgets are declining while the need for materials is rising.
