Empowering Students Through a Single Colored Printer

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in speech therapy learn to communicate with more than just their voice. My communicators benefit from the use of visual supports that allow them to express their thoughts, ideas, and/or feelings with other. Throughout the school year it is vital that these students have consistent and immediate access to high quality color printed communication supports. A fast colored printer, ink, and paper will allow them to receive custom created and printed individualized visual communication supports anytime during the school day.
Every student deserves a multi-sensory language rich environment that allows them to access language through more than just spoken words.
Each visual communication system is unique and might include a combination of: photographs, pictures, drawings, symbols, and/or words. These visual communication systems support students beyond the walls of the speech therapy room. Students travel throughout the school, to gym, art, math, and even recess with their communication system. Sometimes their visuals get lost, stained with food at lunch, or worn out from use on the playground and need another copy in the middle of the day. No student should have to wait hours or days for their voices to be printed because their urban school does not have a colored printer or copier.
Help students have access to a fast colored printer for the speech room whenever they need a new or updated visual support. Let's make sure that all communicators are empowered through visuals that support their learning.
