My Project
I teach a business class and one of my main objectives every semester is to empower my students to advocate for themselves. I do this through a variety of instructional methods such as podcasts, read-alouds, and discussions. I am determined to challenge my students and think outside the box when it comes to increasing student voice and karaoke seemed like a great way to do that. I purchased a small speaker and the rest is history.
Singing helps students grow confidence in themselves and their abilities and challenges a creative piece of themselves that they feel they need to hide.
Unfortunately, our current speaker has recently broken and the students are torn up about it. It was just a small one that I purchased from Wal-Mart. I wanted to make sure we had some quality equipment and knew my community would see me through!
These students are incredible and extremely talented. I'm in the classroom everyday with painters, musicians, photographers, and so much more! Using music to encourage, empower, and inspire them is one of the best gifts I feel I can give as their teacher.
