My Project

This project is deeply rooted in multiple critical STEM subject areas and provides direct exposure to in-demand career fields, fostering both understanding and career growth for our students. Students will learn about the principles of designing and fabricating structures at a micro/macro level, mimicking biological systems. They will explore and custom-designed, 3D-printed scaffolds for coral fragments, facilitating their growth and successful reintroduction into marine environments.

Utilizing the 3D printer, students will be able to fabricate these scaffolds experimenting with various designs for optimal coral fragment attachment and growth.

Students who are eager to learn and curious will analyze data on coral growth rates, environmental conditions, and the effectiveness of different scaffold designs, fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry.

The goal of this hands-on project involves students in every stage, from design and prototyping to deployment and monitoring, offering a comprehensive and immersive scientific journey.
