Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Earlier this school year I introduced bins to our library and they have become a success, the kids go to the "bins area" as if there was a magnetic force coming from it. They also have been able to browse and find books independently which has increased their confidence in finding what they like and want and I am convinced this skill spreads to other aspects in their life impacting in social and emotional areas of their life.
Having said that and considering I am reorganizing the Non Fiction section, I would like to add bins to other sections of our library (like chapter books, picture books and Non Fiction) as well as adding a book cart with bins that would give me the possibility to bring it to different classrooms to support teachers with their curriculum needs.
I am also asking for some bookmarks since we are low on them and I think the sniff bookmarks will be a hit among my students since I want to bring even more interactive elements to the library.
Finally, I would like to use the smiley face bookmarks as rewards for bringing books back in time (which my kids have been great at this year too)
With your help I can further improve the experience of my students coming into the library and I think by adding more browsable areas in the library it will become even more accessible to my students.
