This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am starting a VEX robotic team for my school. Many of my elementary school students have not had any exposure to robotics except with LEGO. I am very excited to introduce them to the experience of competitive robotics!

My students are so excited to build and program their first VEX robots!

Learning by doing—and then competing with other teams—will make STEM fun and real for them, while giving our school a chance to start its very first robotics tradition.

The materials that you are helping to purchase will allow students to explore mechanics in action. By building hands-on robots that can move, pick up, and stack, they learn how gears, levers, and motors work together. It’s not just theory—they get to see engineering principles come alive.

The programming books will explain programming theory, block coding, and Python in a kid-friendly way that the students can understand, allowing their robots to "thing" and move and make decisions autonomously.

Since this is our school’s first robotics team, the guide gives me and my co-coach structured lessons and challenges. Providing us with strategies for introducing students to robotics, troubleshooting builds, and preparing them for competitions. The extra battery helps us during competitions. We will also make our own engineering journals with the book binding machine. These will be complete STEM lessons!

Your contribution will open up a new world of possibilities and explorations that our students have never imagined for themselves!
