Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our K–8 school, we believe that students of all ages should be recognized and celebrated for making positive choices. That’s why we’re excited to launch a school store where students can “purchase” fun and useful items using school dollars—a classroom currency earned by demonstrating positive behavior such as kindness, responsibility, effort, and teamwork. We call our dollars "Ollie" bucks. They are designed after our school's mascot. We give out the Ollie bucks when we reward good behavior for an action that is deemed special by staff. Our students are amazing and come from a variety of backgrounds. We love our community school and the students who are a part of it.
This project will help fund a wide variety of engaging items to stock the school store—everything from school supplies and small toys, and novelty prizes.
It will also provide materials needed to set up and organize the store, such as bins, shelving, signage, and pricing tools.
The store will be open to all students in grades K–8, ensuring that every child, regardless of age, has the opportunity to earn and shop. This inclusive approach not only rewards good behavior but also teaches valuable life skills like saving, budgeting, and goal setting.
By creating a consistent and fun reward system, we’re fostering a positive school culture where students feel motivated, appreciated, and empowered. Your support will help us turn this vision into a meaningful reality that makes a lasting impact.
