This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a social studies teacher in an inner-city school in South Central Los Angeles, I work with immigrant newcomer students who are English language learners. They are exploring U.S.-Central America relations through digital media arts, using their unique perspectives and creativity to express their understanding of history and literacy through primary source analysis. However, without a color printer, their powerful work remains confined to screens or black-and-white prints, limiting their pride and the impact of their creations.

A color printer would allow us to bring their work to life in vivid color, transforming their posters and digital collages into vibrant visuals that can be proudly displayed throughout our classroom and school.

From projects reflecting their own cultures and experiences to artwork celebrating our South Central community, seeing their work in full color would serve as a daily reminder that their voices and stories matter.

Your support would give my students the opportunity to take pride in their work and see the beauty in what they create. By providing a color printer, you are helping us build a learning environment where history and creativity intersect, and where every student knows they are capable of producing something meaningful and beautiful.
