Help me give my students sensory items that will maximize their learning by enhancing focus, improving emotional regulation, and supporting their developmental needs.
The way the sensory items will make a difference is that these items will play a crucial role in the classroom because they will help address students' sensory needs while enhancing their ability to learn. The sensory items will help students regulate their emotions and energy levels, making it easier for them to focus on learning. For example, a fidget toy might help a student with ADHD channel their energy, allowing them to stay seated and engaged in a lesson.
Sensory tools can activate touch, sight, and sometimes sound, providing multi-sensory learning experiences.
This is particularly beneficial for students with sensory processing challenges or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as they often learn best through hands-on and tactile experiences.
My goal for this project is to use the sensory items to create opportunities for learning while keeping activities playful and engaging. The sensory tools will be able to cater to specific challenges, such as improving focus, reducing meltdowns, or enhancing communication. Furthermore, these sensory items can encourage interaction and collaboration among peers, fostering the development of social skills and emotional regulation. I plan to incorporate these sensory tools into lessons to strengthen cognitive skills such as problem-solving and physical skills like hand-eye coordination.
What makes my students special is that they are all unique in their own way. Some have been able to excel in areas like visual learning and they have made some academic improvements over the past few weeks. Though they struggle to communicate verbally they have tried to use gestures and communication devices to communicate. They are extremely determined to reach their highest academic achievement.
