Empowering Minds: Building a Library for Our Special Education Classroom

Help me give my students the 18 book Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and A Little Spot of Feelings and an opportunity to explore engaging books.

My Project

These books will play a vital role in further developing the environment I aim to cultivate in my classroom. My library is a cherished space where my students thrive. My students enjoy independent reading. Each book that finds its way into my collection is treated with utmost care, and my student’s express gratitude for the chance to explore new stories. Every title has been thoughtfully selected based on my observations of their reading preferences and discussions about the types of books they would love to read.

With the addition of these new books, my students will have access to a selection that caters to their individual reading levels and interests.

By allowing them to choose their own reading materials, we can enhance their independent reading time. Research shows that increasing the volume of reading is one of the best ways to improve literacy skills, and these books will support my students in becoming more proficient readers. Their enthusiasm for independent reading has been remarkable, and this initiative will only serve to enrich their engagement with literature.
