My Project
I am a school counselor in a rural school district in Missouri. We are a Title I school, which means that many of our students come from underprivileged households. The items I am requesting will be used in the counseling office to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for students to address mental health concerns and have basic needs met to achieve their best possible academic outcome, and help them reach their full potential each day.
The large storage cabinet will be used to store food, school supplies, and hygiene items to aid students and families in need throughout the school year.
The chair and table will be used to create a comfortable space for students to engage in one-on-one counseling or have a calming place to retreat. The rolling table will be used to house a printer to ensure student confidentiality when printing documents with students' personal information. It will also double as a bookshelf filled with age-appropriate reading material to address a variety of student mental health concerns.
Every child deserves a high-quality education that addresses not only academic needs but also student health and well-being. To know these kiddos is to love them, and I am personally invested in seeing these children go out and conquer their dreams. Sometimes, all that is needed to accomplish that dream is one moment in time when someone saw your struggle and initiated a small act of kindness to change your entire life.
