My Project

Math manipulatives play a crucial role in mathematics education for learners of all ages. They help to create concrete understanding, engagement, multi-sensory learning, problem-solving skills, connection to real-world applications, and gradual abstraction.

My aim with these materials is to establish a math classroom where hands-on learning takes center stage.

These resources will be incorporated into lessons throughout the academic year, covering topics ranging from multiplication and division to fractions, as well as concepts like area and perimeter, among other standards.

Often, students are instructed in a skill without fully grasping the underlying process or rationale behind it. Manipulatives play a crucial role in helping students understand why certain steps are taken to solve math problems.

Children are most receptive to learning through play, and while math manipulatives aren't toys per se, children perceive them as such and engage enthusiastically when given the opportunity to use them.
