This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Access to iPads will be a game-changer for my students with special needs. These devices will support a variety of essential learning needs in our classroom, including communication, academic growth, and daily independence. With apps designed for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), my nonverbal and minimally verbal students will finally have a reliable way to express their needs, feelings, and ideas. iPads will also allow us to use interactive programs aligned with our special education curriculum (Unique Learning System), making learning in subjects like reading and math more accessible, engaging, and personalized.
These iPads will help my students learn in ways that work for them.
Visual schedules and task-based apps will reduce anxiety and increase independence for students who need structure and routine. Educational games will reinforce skills in phonics, counting, and social-emotional development, all while keeping students motivated through play. Whether used in small group instruction, one-on-one sessions, or independent work time, iPads will make a huge difference in helping each child reach their potential.
My students are incredibly special, bright, creative, and determined learners who just need the right tools to succeed. Many come from families facing financial hardship, and school is one of the few places where they can access technology and learning tools tailored to their needs. With your support, we can provide them not just with iPads, but with opportunities to find their voice, grow in confidence, and truly thrive in the classroom and beyond.
