Empowering K-1 Cluster Learners: Sensory Tools and Supplies for Success

Help me give my students a Cricut Maker 3 to provide essential school supplies and sensory tools for my 13 students with autism and unique learning needs.

My Project

Our classroom consists of 13 unique learners, each with their own individual challenges and needs. These students have a variety of sensory processing disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and learning difficulties that can affect their ability to engage with traditional learning methods. This project aims to provide them with sensory toys and activities that will support their growth, development, and engagement in the classroom.

The sensory Play Putty Therapy Putty for Kids, , Lakeshore Classroom Calming Kit - S will help students self-regulate and stay focused during lessons.

For example, some of our students experience heightened anxiety in quiet or overstimulating environments. For others, fidget toys will help release excess energy, enabling them to sit still for longer periods while still maintaining focus. Tactile items such as textured fabrics and squishy materials will provide calming sensory feedback for students who seek physical stimulation, helping them feel grounded and centered.

The Cricut Maker 3 is a versatile and innovative tool that can significantly enhance learning experiences in classrooms with special needs students. Its relevance lies in its ability to accommodate a wide range of abilities and learning styles.

One of the key reasons for incorporating the Cricut Maker 3 into a special needs classroom is its adaptability. This machine allows students to design, cut, and create various projects such as crafts.

What makes our students special is their diversity of needs and the unique strengths they bring to the classroom. They each have different ways of learning and processing information, and it's important to honor and cater to those differences. Sensory toys and activities will give them the tools they need to succeed on their terms and will ultimately create a more inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environment for everyone.
