My Project

Hello, wonderful supporters! As we embrace Women's History Month, we invite you to join our mission to celebrate the incredible contributions of Black and Brown women through literature. Our project, "EmpowerHER," aims to create a vibrant library that champions diversity, amplifying the voices of impactful women who have shaped history.

This project is dedicated to curating a collection of books that showcase the stories of remarkable Black and Brown women, highlighting their resilience, achievements, and contributions.

Your support will help us provide students with access to literature that reflects the rich tapestry of our world, fostering a sense of inclusion and empowerment. Even as a math teacher, I am driven by the importance of reading on content-related mastery! By bringing literature into my classroom, I aim to inspire the next generation of leaders and change-makers!

Through your contribution, one of the books brought to my students will be Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice by Phillip Hoose. This book is about Claudette Colvin, a brave young woman who, before Rosa Parks, refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. This book highlights Colvin's courage and the pivotal role she played in the civil rights movement!

Your generous contributions will directly impact the lives of students, providing them with a window into the diverse experiences of women who have shaped our world.

Thank you for being a part of our EmpowerHER project!
