Project Overview

In our first-grade classroom, my students are curious, eager learners who thrive when presented with engaging, age-appropriate materials.

Scholastic News magazines provide a perfect blend of literacy, science, social studies, and current events tailored to young readers. With your support, we can bring Scholastic News into our classroom in both print and digital formats, sparking curiosity, building literacy, and expanding their worldview.

My Students

My students are high-achieving and gifted first graders from economically low-income backgrounds. They are inquisitive, driven, and full of potential, but they often face limited access to enriching learning resources outside of school. Despite challenges, these children come to class each day with enthusiasm and curiosity. They deserve the opportunity to explore the world through accessible, high-quality materials that meet their interests and needs.

What We Need

This project will provide a one-year subscription to Scholastic News for our class. Each student will receive:

• Monthly print issues of Scholastic News magazines

• Digital access to interactive editions, videos, and learning tools

These resources introduce students to topics in science, social studies, and current events, fostering a love for learning and improving reading comprehension. The digital platform ensures all students can interact with the content, whether individually or as part of a group activity.

Why Your Support Matters

For many of my students, this may be their first consistent exposure to engaging nonfiction reading materials.
