Empowering First Graders Through STEM

My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners. Over half of my students are learning English. I have students of all ability levels. My class loves to participate in activities that bring them closer together. We continue to work our social emotional health, and now I would like to add in more meaningful STEM activities.

Fostering my students' social emotional health has enabled my students to feel comfortable in my classroom.

Now, I would like to encourage them to also use their relationships to explore STEM activities. Learning and building together.

My Project

These materials will help students foster working together to solve problems. They will also help to reinforce new and previously learned skills. These materials will help improve hand-eye coordination.

My students need more opportunity to explore by trial and error.

Most of these materials allow students to create and to safely make and correct mistakes. It's fun to teach, but it's more fun to watch a student's face when they have come to the answer through discovery. I look forward to fostering their growth and development with these projects.
