Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a group of middle school ESL students who bring so much heart, resilience, and curiosity into our classroom. Many of them are new to the country, learning not just English, but also how to navigate a whole new world. Despite their challenges, they show up every day eager to connect, create, and grow. What I love most about my students is their determination and the joy they find in small victories—like using a new word in conversation or finishing a book in English for the first time. They support each other and celebrate progress as a team.
The resources in this project—interactive literacy games, storytelling tools, and hands-on vocabulary kits—are designed to meet them where they are.
These aren’t just school supplies; they’re tools that turn language learning into a shared adventure. Games like Bananagrams and Rory’s Story Cubes help build vocabulary and sentence fluency in a way that’s social and fun. Storytelling kits and magnetic poetry encourage creativity and give students the chance to express themselves without fear. Visual resources and sentence-building tools offer essential scaffolding for grammar and writing.
These materials will help my students develop their language skills, but more importantly, they’ll help them feel confident, included, and excited to learn. With your support, English won’t just be a subject—it’ll be a doorway to connection and success.
