Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am seeking to attend a professional development course that will deepen my understanding of effective language instruction and second language acquisition theories. By enhancing my knowledge in areas such as English language development (ELD), specifically designed academic instruction in English (SDAIE), and assessment strategies for English learners, I will be able to create a more inclusive and effective classroom environment for my students.
Through this course, I will be equipped with strategies to improve my students' language acquisition, focusing on integrating their first and second languages to enhance both content and language learning.
With this knowledge, I will be able to tailor my lessons to meet the unique needs of each student, fostering their growth in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. My students will benefit from a more engaging and supportive classroom, where they can actively apply their language skills to real-life scenarios, ultimately supporting their academic success and overall confidence.
This professional development will not only elevate my teaching practices but will also empower my students to thrive as language learners in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
