Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, we serve a 100% Latino student population, many of whom are English Language Development (ELD) learners striving to build their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English. As a middle school ELD teacher and an elementary intervention teacher, my role is to support these students in meeting the demands of both their classroom learning and state assessments—particularly the ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California).

Our students are intelligent, hardworking, and motivated, but they often face challenges when it comes to academic English.

They need targeted support and engaging resources to help bridge the language gap. This project will provide essential materials that focus on improving their English fluency and comprehension, giving them the tools they need to participate confidently in class discussions, understand grade-level texts, and express themselves more clearly.

These resources will not only support instruction across content areas but will also give us a strong start to the school year, setting a positive tone for both learning and growth. With the right materials in place, we can create a more inclusive, equitable, and effective learning environment for every student.
