Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are diverse learners so I like to provide them with various learning tools/materials. We do lots of hands-on work in class, but we also like to provide a few minutes of digital time, so they can begin to get acquainted with the new technology. While technology sometimes seems to get a negative rep, we make sure to limit digital time to only a couple of times during the week. Our district has graciously provided us with a full set of OSMO systems. While we are so thankful for that, we no longer have a classroom set of iPads that can be used by all students. Students are assigned their own iPads with covers that are not to be removed. In order to use OSMO, the iPads cannot have the covers on, so now we have run into an issue of not being able to use the OSMO systems like we would like to.
It would be so beneficial to have this classroom set of iPads to use with our OSMO systems and other programs.
OSMO has many educational "games" that the students love and learn from. There are math games (shapes, counting, number recognition), literacy games (ABCs, letter formation, and sounds), music, coding, writing (beginning with learning to draw common shapes), and many more. I would love to continue to give my students the opportunity to learn through digital play!
