Empowering Dance Education Through Professional Development
I need registration funding for the IABD Conference and Festival to enhance my dance education and bring culturally rich practices back to my students.
I teach dance at a diverse public high school where students are eager to explore and understand dance in both technical and cultural depth. To provide my students with a rich, well-rounded education, I strive to incorporate various dance styles, histories, and techniques.
By attending the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) Conference, I will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, immerse myself in culturally specific dance practices, and gain new tools to inspire and engage my students.
The IABD Dance Conference will allow me to deepen my expertise in ballet, modern, jazz, and culturally significant styles like West African dance. I aim to bring back a curriculum enriched with these elements, making dance more meaningful and relevant to my students’ lives. This experience will directly impact my teaching, enabling me to create an inclusive environment that celebrates and respects the diversity of dance traditions. By supporting this project, you're helping to bring world-class dance instruction into our classroom, allowing students to explore a broader world of movement, history, and self-expression.
The request is for the conference and festival registration fee only. My travel and lodging have already been arranged.
