Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a special education teacher at an Equity Focus School, I am passionate about creating a learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and included. Beyond my classroom, I want to help foster greater understanding and acceptance of students with diverse learning needs throughout our school community.

This project will allow my students to use an iPad as both a learning tool and a platform for sharing their voices and talents with others.

My goal is to help students create presentations, videos, and visual projects that teach their peers about inclusion, kindness, and understanding students with special needs.

Students will use the iPad to develop short educational videos, photo slideshows, or digital stories that showcase their learning, highlight their strengths, and help others better understand how to support students with disabilities. These projects could be shared during school assemblies, family nights, or community events to promote awareness and empathy.

This project seeks to serve our entire school community — students, staff, and families — by creating opportunities for connection, understanding, and celebration of differences. It will also empower my students by giving them a platform to advocate for themselves and educate others.

The iPad will provide flexible tools for creativity, communication, and collaboration, allowing my students to engage in meaningful projects that have an impact beyond our classroom walls.

This project aligns with the "Speak Out" goal of the Allstate Foundation’s Service Stars initiative by giving students with special needs the tools and confidence to share their voices, promote inclusion, and inspire kindness throughout our school.

Thank you for supporting a project that will not only help my students grow but will also create a more compassionate and inclusive school community for all.
