My Project
My students love to use Makey Makey kits, but that has been difficult since our school district switched from Chromebooks to iPads. iPad USBC to USB-A adapters for our classroom would make this possible. These essential adapters will unlock a world of creative learning by enabling our students to fully utilize our existing Makey Makey Invention Kits with their iPads.
Makey Makey is a revolutionary tool designed to connect the physical world to computer interactions, transforming everyday objects into touchpads and keyboards.
It empowers students to design their own controllers using conductive materials like playdough or graphite, fostering hands-on exploration of circuits and conductivity. Through this, they learn fundamental STEM concepts and, crucially, engage in block-based coding with platforms to control their inventions.
Currently, our students are limited as Makey Makey kits are designed for traditional computer ports, while our primary classroom devices are iPads. The absence of these adapters creates a significant barrier to accessing this powerful educational resource. By providing these Lightning adapters, we will bridge this technological gap, allowing every student to participate in designing, coding, and inventing.
This project will directly impact 300 students across 4th and 5th grade level, promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy. My students will gain invaluable experience in physical computing, turning abstract coding concepts into tangible, interactive projects.
