Living on the Arctic Circle has its challenges. Between the extreme temperatures, no running water, loss of sunlight, and internet issues, our students have learned to be flexible and persevere. Our school, then, becomes the hub of events, clubs, and activities for our students. Thank you for giving our students opportunities not readily available up here in remote Alaska!
My Project
The students in our village come from homes with no internet or running water. That's right...NO running water. Therefore, our school is the hub of community activities, clubs, and sports. Our dream, next year, is to create various after-school clubs to engage the students to promote STEM thinking. Therefore, this Lego Club idea was born. Meeting weekly, we provide themed lesson plans and tasks, increasing in difficulty every week, for students to accomplish, followed by individual and team celebrations. This Lego Club encapsulates the idea of collaboration and team work!
