This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My lacrosse players are dedicated and hard-working, even though they have limited experience. Most of my new players have never seen or played the sport, but are eager to learn. They are excited to be a part of a team, but lack the ability to afford the high cost of a lacrosse stick.

My Project

High school sports are vital to teaching team work, cooperation, and self-confidence. Most of the girls that first try-out for the team have never seen or played lacrosse. Many come from families that do not have the means to purchase a lacrosse stick for their child. While I have had former players donate their lacrosse sticks so the next generation can use them, many are too old, beyond repair and not legal for play anymore. I am hoping to continue the tradition of offering every player the chance to play and be a vital part of a team by having lacrosse sticks available so they can play.
