Empower Students With Photography

My students need 6 digital cameras to create photographs in Middle School Art Class.

My Students

Imagination soars in the art room! We are about to go beyond clay and paint as we dive into photography.

My students are middle school students from Minnesota who come from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Students in 6th -8th grade create art using many different materials. I would like digital technology to become part of our 21st century skills. 8 digital cameras would help get this started.

My Project

I want students to have the opportunity to learn about photography as an art form. They will compose their own photographs and take them to a computer lab where they will learn to use photo editing software. As an example of a project, students will take photos showing who they are rather than simply what they look like. This will require much research and higher level thinking skills. This work will empower students to think about how to show the best part of who they are.

Technology is becoming increasingly important in our curriculum.

Having the equipment we need to teach digital technology is crucial to our students this day and age. We love clay and paint but it's time to keep moving into the 21st century!
