My students need one iPad.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is a part of this generation - that much is certain. The day to day learning can be done utilizing what I have in the classroom - namely books, paper, and a pen. But the in-depth learning, the learning that will stay with them for a lifetime is definitely done with technology.
My students love projects; they shine when you give them a chance to show what they know, minus the books, the paper, and the pen.
I have given my share of projects in the past: the newspaper, the poem, the survival kit, etc... But today's students need to use technology as part of their projects. These projects are definitely more creative and challenging.
My Project
The iPad will be used in several classrooms, several subjects in order for kids to analyze literature using the realm of art. For example, my 9th graders are going to be able to act out Romeo and Juliet, instead of just reading it. Each group will record their act on the iPad, and ultimately, the entire class will have produced their own version of the play!
My 11th graders will be able to showcase their very own PowerPoint presentation of the characters in the Great Gatsby to the class. They can include the music of the Jazz age, photographs of the flappers, and even their own hand drawn satirical cartoons.
My 12th graders can use the iPad to create a theatrical trailer for Dante's Inferno, with each group detailing one circle of hell.
This iPad will be for classroom use only.
It will be used by groups when they have to complete a project, but it will also be used by individual students to present a project. But the versatility does not stop there.
I can also use this iPad to check for understanding. The kids can use it when a question is raised that needs to be researched. We can even use it to score SAT practice tests.
All from one iPad. Sometimes, the best things in life does come in one small package.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
