My Project
I plan on providing my students with supplies for the classroom. It is very difficult for students to learn without the necessary tools or when they are hungry. In a town where educators receive the lowest compensation, my 32 years as a special education teacher have exposed the profound impact of financial constraints on our school system. Lower-income schools like ours bear the brunt, affecting both educators and students who deserve equal opportunities. My town has the lowest-paid teachers in our state, I've consistently dipped into my own pocket to bridge the gap between minimal resources and the enriching learning environment my students deserve.
Contributing to our classroom means investing in the potential of my students' resilient minds, enabling me to create an environment where learning flourishes with markers, sharpened pencils to write with, snacks when they are hungry, wipes to clean their hands and comfortable chairs to learn in.
This struggle is familiar to many educators, especially those in special education attuned to their students' unique needs. Despite financial limitations, my dedication remains unwavering. Witnessing my students lacking basic supplies and nutritious snacks is disheartening, crucial elements for a conducive learning environment.
I reach out not just as a teacher but as an advocate for these remarkable individuals. Your support can be the catalyst for change. Together, we can ensure that special education students, despite financial challenges, have the tools to thrive. Let's rewrite their narrative and empower them with the resources they deserve. Your consideration of this crucial investment in our future leaders is deeply appreciated.
