This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my role as an elementary school counselor, I lead small counseling groups that help students build essential social-emotional skills like self-regulation, empathy, communication, and confidence. Many of the children I work with are navigating big feelings and life challenges.
Using hands-on, creative activities and games make learning these skills feel safe, fun, and engaging.
Chutes and Ladders is a great game to teach bouncing back after disappointment and managing emotions. The jars are used to teach positive talk while we boost our confidence. The stamps, journals, and other supplies are used to teach emotion management.
