My Project
Our students range from Kindergarten to 8th Grade. All of the students in our English Language Program are at varying levels of English proficiency and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and countries. They arrive at school every day eager to learn while adapting to a new culture, establishing friendships, and mastering the core subjects of science, math, social studies, art, and literature.
Integrating multisensory strategies for our English Language Learners (ELL) will provide students with a more engaging and enriching educational experience.
To promote student interaction and a sense of community, language games provide practice with social language so that students can fully engage with one another. These types of activities help create a fun and safe learning environment. Pocket charts allow students to manipulate academic language both visually and physically. Sentence frames promote self-efficacy and confidence by providing students with sentence starters to communicate their thoughts and responses until they feel comfortable doing so on their own.
Communication is a crucial life skill. Developing students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English adds another layer of learning and our students deserve all the support we can provide. Traditional methods while effective can benefit greatly from the integration of multisensory activities that engage students more deeply and foster a love of language learning.
