it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Founded in 2011, The MPS is a tuition-free public charter nestled in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. We were built on a simple yet powerful promise: every child, regardless of background, deserves an exceptional college-preparatory education. Today we serve a vibrant community that is largely Latino and Black, many of whom face the systemic challenges that come with living in under-resourced neighborhoods. Guided by our pillars of Preparedness, Respect, Engagement, and Perseverance, Mission Prep delivers rigorous academics while nurturing each child’s social and emotional development. Our mission is unwavering: equip every student with the knowledge, skills, and strength of character to thrive in college and beyond.
To accelerate this mission, we invite your partnership in providing 18 Promethean interactive boards, one for every classroom from TK through eighth grade.
This technology will transform teaching and learning by turning static lessons into interactive experiences. Teachers will guide students as they solve math problems together, annotate texts in real time, and explore virtual science labs that spark curiosity. For learners who benefit from visual, tactile, and technology-rich instruction, Promethean boards offer dynamic pathways to mastery and promote the goals of Universal Design for Learning. In our multilingual classrooms, they also help break down language barriers and foster confident student participation.
Currently, only one class at our school has access to a Promethean board, and the results have been remarkable. We’ve seen notable improvements in test scores, engagement, and support for students with diverse learning needs, including those who are differently abled. The impact is clear.
