This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our "Empathy Lab: Strengthening School Year Rapport" project aims to build strong bonds between teachers and our Latino kindergarten students from underserved communities. Our main goals are simple: boost trust and connection with teachers, develop empathy through fun activities, and build critical thinking and communication skills. We know that a strong relationship with their teacher helps kids feel safe and ready to learn, especially when starting a new school year.

We believe that playing games and using hands-on items are the best ways to reach these goals.

Games help children learn to share, take turns, and understand others' feelings. When kids play with physical objects, they learn to solve problems and work together. This is extra special for our Latino students, as it creates a welcoming space that celebrates their culture and helps them express themselves with confidence. These activities are key to building their social skills and helping them feel connected.

Right now, we don't have enough good quality games or manipulatives, and what we have often breaks. This causes distractions for our young learners, making them miss important moments for connecting and learning. By donating to our "Empathy Lab" project, you'll help us get the materials we need. Your support will directly improve teacher-student relationships and empathy, setting our students up for success in school and life. It means our kids can focus on learning and building friendships, instead of worrying about broken toys.
