My Project
My students are passionate, resilient, and eager to learn, despite facing challenges that many others don’t experience. They work hard every day and take immense pride in their education, always seeking opportunities to grow.
I am requesting 40 copies of *Ghost Boys* by Jewell Parker Rhodes to help my students explore themes of race, justice, and empathy.
This novel, which centers on the story of a young African American boy who becomes a ghost after being tragically shot, provides a powerful platform for discussing difficult, yet vital, social issues. With these books, my students will engage in meaningful conversations about identity, social justice, and the impact of racism, which will encourage them to think critically about the world around them.
The specific items I’m requesting will provide an opportunity for my students to not only develop their reading skills but also cultivate empathy and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by others. *Ghost Boys* is a story that will resonate with many of my students, helping them see themselves reflected in literature and fostering a sense of hope and empowerment.
What makes my students special is their determination to succeed. They are hardworking, dedicated, and deeply invested in their learning. By giving them access to *Ghost Boys*, we will be able to connect more deeply with important issues and inspire them to become advocates for change.
