Emotions Are Feelings And Sensory Awareness Is Essential
Help me give my students books to help explain our emotions and sensory bins to help them express emotions positively when they are upset or need a break from the general school work.
I love kindergarteners and watching them grow. From the beginning of the year to the end of kindergarten so much growth and awareness develops. When a child enters the classroom many emotions can come to surface. Kindergarten is an especially delicate year. Some of my students will come to me on the first day and have never been away from their families. In this situation, my job becomes not just their teacher, but the one that comforts and reassures them that they are safe.
Not all children understand that we all have emotions and with each one a feeling overcomes us.
For example, when we are sad we want to cry, when we are mad we want to be angry and do things to express that frustration, etc. My job is to teach children about their emotions and how to handle them in a safe way. This specific project is created with that in mind. I have requested several books on emotions and feelings. As a kindergarten teacher children come to me unidentified or identified with emotional behavioral conditions. If I can provide my students with these resources I can better help them understand their feelings and emotions. I have created a calming station in my classroom and in this station I’d love to include these books and some sensory bins to help them calm themselves.
