Emotional Support in the Classroom

My Students

All of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Some are new to our country and some have escaped war-torn countries but despite their circumstances.

My students enjoy coming to school and learning but they are in need of some items in our classroom to help with their social and emotional learning.

My students attend an inner-city school with a 100% poverty rate. They all come from different backgrounds but together they work well with each other. We work to build a community in our classroom and a safe environment.

My Project

Students will be using their social and emotional skills more than ever before with returning back to school. Students will have a calming down space in the classroom. They will have different items that they can use to help them calm down and get refocused in the classroom.

Students will have more anxiety than before and they need a safe and calming space to be able to go to.

Having the different types of sensory items students can have variety to choose from. Also these items make it easier to be able to sanitize between uses. The affirmation cards will be very useful to have for them to use positive self talk.
