Emotional Literacy... Making the World a Better Place!

My Students

We partner with families in our school community to help to empower our scholars to see themselves as important contributors to our world. Our students are full of curiosity and imagination, they are hands on learners, creative and brilliant question askers.

Our scholars all have giant personalities and individual ways of experiencing learning.

Our students have have unique learning goals that they work on each day. They work on things like math, reading and social skills and emotional expression. They are tenacious learners, all have different ways of accessing information and love to show what they know. They become so proud when they see their progress!

My Project

We teach and learn in a Specialized Services classroom. Our students spend parts of the day in our Resource Room - some kids come for 30 minutes a day, some of the kids come in to find a safe space to calm down, or solve a problem, and some kids stay for most of their day, depending upon what they need as individuals. Our students (like most of us adults these days), are learning about emotions, and how to express them in a productive way.

Our students are practicing and growing in their abilities to express their emotions; we want and encourage them to be people with full self-expression.

Stifling or bottling up emotions can be just as destructive as out of control emotional tantrums. By working through the Little Spot of Emotion Books, we will be able to talk about and learn about our emotions. We strive to help our students to understand what they are feeling, name it and express themselves in such a way that they can once again come to a place of feeling centered and balanced, and continue on with their school day.
