This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are full of energy and curiosity! They are five and six-year-olds who come to school excited to learn. I try to make learning fun and engaging as they learn through play. For some of my students, kindergarten is their first school experience which means that they come with different skills and abilities.

I believe that every child can learn at their own developmental pace.

My goal as their teacher is to provide engaging and challenging learning experiences in a positive and safe environment.

My Project

How are you feeling today? That's how we start our day because it's so important to know how my students are doing and for them to express their feelings. I use a feelings chart every morning which helps them visually. They will use the feelings journals to write about their feelings. It's also crucial that my students know that I value their feelings.

I'm requesting picture books that have stories that they can make connections to and learn about feelings such as the book "A Little Spot of Anxiety" by Diane Alber.

This book is about a little spot of anxiety who explains how to calm down.

The stress balls, sensory fidget toys, and anti-anxiety tools will help them through these stressful times. They will practice what they learn about feelings by asking their family members and friends how they are feeling. My students will learn how to self-regulate their emotions which is an important skill for emotional maturity and for social connections. Thank you in advance for considering our project.
