My Students

We come from a low-income school, where every student in the building receives free lunch and breakfast. Our students are amazing and deserve the very best!

My students are doing their best to succeed in a world in which the cards are stacked against them.

We are a Title I school in which over 90% of our students live in poverty. One in five kids do not have enough to eat and 10% of children in the district are homeless. Statistically, our school demographics are 43% African American, 42% Hispanic, 3% Native American, 3% multi-racial, and 7% Caucasian.

My classroom is a family. In this family, we are all unique and have something beautiful to bring to the table. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

The supplies in this project will help put new books in my students' hands and organize our classroom. The materials in this project will also help teach the foundation of reading and recognizing letters for those who are still struggling. Many of my students cannot connect with the books we currently have because they cannot independently read them. My goal is to update my classroom library so that all students can connect.

My students need more age appropriate reading materials in order to become more enthusiastic about reading and to help their reading brains grow!

Every student in my classroom deserves to find a book to enjoy! With your donation, this project will allow my students to feel valued and help keep my students motivated to love reading.
