This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching a group of third and fourth graders this fall! It's a diverse class with talents and needs. It's a different kind of year however, we are taking on new tasks and will persevere.

My classroom is about building skills to work together as a class.

The work we do in this classroom is building relationships and learning in Spanish! Every student in the class has a bilingual buddy to assist them with the language skills and that has been really awesome to watch as a teacher how students are supporting others in the learning the language.

My Project

Our classroom libraries are in need of more Spanish books! Because of the pandemic students growth in Spanish has been stagnant or it's been slow growth. Purchasing books that are at a lower level will be helpful for our emergent readers. Also, I have noticed that offering a variety of books to choose from helps students stay engaged during Independent Reading time.

These books will be shared throughout our school so that we can also have a rotating library where students aren't seeing the books everytime they go to the class library.

All the Spanish teachers agreed that when students see new books they are excited. Receiving these books will be so helpful and it will be exciting to add them the the class library.
