Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my second year in kindergarten! I love the different dynamics of a kindergarten class. These little learners are so sweet and eager! My students are English Language Learners. Many students in my class have never been in school prior to this year.

I try to make learning fun and memorable as kindergarten sets the tone for their first educational experiences in a school.

We learn through hands-on activities, games, and a lot of movement! My students love to learn in new ways and enjoy being a part of a small group where skills are broken down for them to be able to understand and master the skill.

My students come from very diverse backgrounds, and each has their own unique learning styles. We love to read and write when we're together. Sometimes I, as the teacher, need to think out of the box on how to approach new topics so that my students can understand the teaching point.

My Project

These books will be the first books in what I hope will become a print-rich classroom. I want my classroom library to become a place that my students enjoy and independent reading an activity that they choose to do. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading and feel the joy that comes from getting lost in a good story.

Emergent storybooks teaches students to look closely and think hard as they read their books.

Emergent story books help students do the hard thinking work of reading, even before they can read words conventionally. I need a collection books that peak their interest. I need high interest books that I can help them navigate through and teach them to be a successful reader. By donating to my project, I can give them these things.
