Emergency Art Kits to Keep Our Creativity Flowing

Help me give my students an individual kit of basic art supplies so that they can continue to express themselves visually at home and PREVENT CROSS-CONTAMINATION from shared supplies when they return to the school building.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in an amazing little urban school which we feel is the jewel in the crown of our city. We have an unbelievable school community with caring teachers and support professionals. Our school has in place many cool initiatives in partnership with our caring community partners and our children's standardized testing scores and school satisfaction and engagement have skyrocketed.

Because many of my students are economically disadvantaged or English Language Learners, one of their main means of expression is in the visual arts.

Many have access to chrome books but no internet access in their homes. As their art teacher, I have been working very hard to come up with solutions to provide on-line learning experiences as we navigate this pandemic. Many of our students have no art supplies at home and I would love to be able to provide them with an individual art kit to use at home and when we begin in-school classes again.

My Project

My amazing students are busy creating art at home. They use whatever they have to do their projects. We have come up with many ways to continue learning about art during this emergency, but access to art supplies and materials makes it completely insurmountable for some of our students.

I would like to ask for the most basic art supplies: drawing paper, crayons, scissors, glue, pencils, watercolor paint, and sharpie markers to give to each child so that my eager students can continue to be engaged in creative pursuits.

The supplies will be used by individuals in the classroom to prevent the cross-contamination that occurs with sharing supplies, which they have learned to do so well in our urban school. Most of my students do NOT have their own supplies at home. Please help if you can!
