My Students
ELMS hosts grades 6-8. Our learning is completely project-based, inter-disciplinary and the students' work is for authentic audiences and purposes. Our students are incredibly diverse and are pulled from all over the district based on the need for a safe, hands-on and community-centered learning environment.
Our 7th grade learning expedition inspires our students to go on a "Quest For Change" to make our city a better place and they are up for the challenge.
My students are inspired and share their unique gifts in order to change our city for the better.
My Project
Our students collaborate in every class to create a peacemaker book to feature local peacemakers in our community in order to use their service as models for themselves. Also included in this book are their local abolitionist documentary film scripts, their design briefs for robots that make a change, and their science fair projects designed to make change. We need laptops so that students can use Google Docs to collaborate on their writing and edit the book together.
Each year, I compile student work into the book and I would like for students to be able to do this themselves to increase their involvement in publishing the book.
We need Chromebook laptops that are just for our room so that students could work on compiling work from all classes. It would help spread our students' message and add even more dazzle to our Day of Peace.
