Some of my most memorable school memories are from my second grade teacher. She always showed films depicting non-fiction concepts. I remember that she used the old film cans and would have to feed the filmstrip into the machine. Seeing those vivid images taught me invaluable concepts.
First graders love to see actual images and learn visually.
Six and seven year olds love to sit close to the storybook pages to view all the details in the illustrations. They love colorful and exciting visuals that capture their attention. Our school is 10 years old. In our district, that means that our building is not set-up with the newest technology. And, it also means that our building isn't old enough to be retrofitted or updated. My students hang in the balance between.
My Project
The main purpose of an Elmo presenter is to display documents, storybooks, and three-dimensional objects that are not translucent. That means that I would not have to request transparencies from the office, struggle to find a working copy machine, and limit my students' learning to flat, two-dimensional, uncolored illustrations. I would be able to demonstrate concepts, stories, and visuals with ease and vividness. Our school has projectors, but ELMO presenters are uncommon.
Our district does not have the funds to provide every classroom teacher with this technology.
By supplying my students with this technology, you are ensuring that their education is engaging. An ELMO Presenter also reduces the amount of supplies that my classroom would have to use.
