Are you frustrated when you sit in a business meeting or other presentation and cannot clearly see what is being presented? Imagine being in a classroom where your school assignment depends on your ability to see the materials. My students do not have that capability without a document reader!
My students are happy, energetic, capable 4th graders who are eager to learn but who are thwarted because we do not have all of the up-to-date and helpful technology that we need.
We are a Title I school, but we are a high performing school that has won the accolade of Distinguished School. We are a close-knit community of students and teachers who work together to ensure active engagement and the rigor required for the best learning.
My Project
Having a document reader will open new worlds to these visual learners. A document reader shows exactly what it is filming so the students will see real-world objects in 3-D! The enhancement to their learning will be obvious, and they will feel a part of the 21st century of technological advances found in many other classrooms.
Our school does not have a budget which allows the purchase of a document reader like I am requesting.
I have spent many of my personal funds to bring the classroom up-to-date, including purchasing a refurbished laptop from eBay to use in my room. I feel that having a document reader/document camera is essential in this day and age, and I'm excited about bringing one to the students.
