Help me give my students the opportunity to learn language in an engaging and meaningful way. With these resources, my English Language Learners will be equipped with the language skills to succeed on state exams.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My eighth grade students are enrolled at a School for Civics in the Community that is also classified as a Tier I school within the New York City Public School system. My classroom is composed of students from around the globe who are enthusiastic to learn, grow, and discover. All of my students are classified as English Language Learners and are currently at different levels in their language acquisition.
My students are brilliant, driven, and highly motivated children who have recently immigrated to the United States.
They have left everything behind in their home countries in hopes of better opportunities. My goal as the English language teacher is to build a strong foundation in language in order to foster a love of learning and reading. Many of my students are from Central and South America with Spanish being their home language. My ENL students need access to a school library that is inclusive and at their current reading level. With access to bilingual books and guided reading books, my students will have the opportunity to learn English and become successful learners.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will greatly benefit their English Language Acquisition. My eighth grade students will be equipped with skills to learn English vocabulary by utilizing the Sequence Cards for Storytelling and Picture Interpretation. Additionally, students will strengthen their vocabulary by using the Carson-Dellosa Key Education Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives Photographic Learning Cards. Students will have the opportunity to learn English in an engaging and meaningful way. The generous donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful learning.
