Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our ELL 8th-grade student. The students at the center are eager to learn the English language and are curious about their natural world. Their FSA Reading scores were very low last year and I am thinking of ways to motivate them and get them excited about reading through the science curriculum.

These students love to learn; yet, they just need the correct tools to get them on the right path to English literacy via content-based books.

This will enable them to not only learn the science content yet also get them reading in the English language. This is essential to educate them in America and make them into life-long learners.

My Project

My 8th grade ELL students will utilize this novel to supplement the current science curriculum on atoms, molecules, and the elements on the Periodic Table. We will read from it every block and be able to place such a complex concept into a storyline to help understand these not so easy benchmarks into simple words. These students range from 12-14 years of age and need exposure to rich-print environments and reading materials that is content-based. Research suggests the more students read out loud, the more confident they will become in the English language. This will also enable them to become more confident in science and will become success stories with your help.
